Artwork > Rug II

A mihrab form - borrowed from the prayer rug, a fixed point of orientation - holds the center while rug motifs (gul, boteh, bird, and botanical forms) move across and beyond its boundaries, fluid and ungoverned. The printed rug pattern in the background is the imprint of inherited identity. The architecture remains. The forms refuse it. Passage is what happens in between.
